The City of Oakland’s Residential Lending Services is looking for General Contractors and Painters to participate in their rehabilitation programs currently being offered. They provide low-interest, deferred loans and forgivable grants to low-income, senior, and disabled homeowners within the City of Oakland. The loans and grants range from $2,500-$75,000; and sometimes more if homeowners participate in multiple programs simultaneously.
To qualify as a contractor, they expect you to have an active license, have general liability insurance, workers comp insurance (when applicable), be lead certified, and have an Oakland Business License. Once an application and supporting documents have been submitted, they will reach out to schedule a new contractors meeting to explain the details of how the programs work and what the process is for you as a contractor.
They are working with City Council towards increasing their loan and grant limits; so there will be even more money to make within the near future! Additionally, they will be launching a new, lead-based paint program city-wide (the current paint program requires homeowners to be located in specific districts), and anticipate an increase the need for painters soon.
