The Stephen Gerard Thompson scholarship program was established in 2017 in honor of Stephen Gerard Thompson, who served as an NCPFC Board member and a painting industry leader in the San Francisco - Bay Area region. Northern California Painting and Finishing Contractors (NCPFC) is awarding $5,000 in individual scholarships.

Qualifications:

To be considered, each applicant must meet the scholarship award eligibility requirements and complete a scholarship application.

  1. Open to all NCAT and NCPFC member company management employees and their family members, including dependents, immediate and extended relatives.
  2. Applicant must be enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited university or community college.
  3. Open to students at any stage of their academic journey— Freshmen through Seniors—as well as those continuing their education. There is no age limit.
  4. Applicant may pursue any major or field of study.
  5. Applicant must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8*.
  6. Applicant must submit an unofficial transcript.
  7. Applicant must submit a completed scholarship application.
  8. Past recipients are encouraged to apply.
  9. Applicant must use scholarship award amount towards educational expenses (such as tuition, fees, books, course supplies)

Deadline for application submission: July 8, at 4:00 p.m.

Scholarship recipients will be announced and awarded during the week of July 28, 2025.
