Celebrating Women in the Construction Industry
Women in Construction (WIC) Week is an annual, nationwide celebration that highlights the contributions of women across all sectors of the construction industry. Observed each March, WIC Week brings attention to the role women play in building, maintaining, and advancing our industry—while also encouraging continued progress toward a strong, inclusive workforce.
Originally established by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), WIC Week has grown into a recognized opportunity for organizations, contractors, and industry partners to recognize leadership, promote professional growth, and inspire future generations to consider careers in construction.
Why Women in Construction Week Matters
The construction industry relies on a skilled, sustainable workforce. Women in Construction Week highlights the role women play across the industry and creates space to recognize progress, share opportunities, and encourage continued participation in the trades. It also helps bring attention to workforce development, career pathways, and collaboration that support the industry’s long-term health.
How Contractors and Members Can Participate
Members and contractors are encouraged to engage in ways that align with their organization and workforce, including:
- Recognizing women leaders and team members within your company
- Sharing stories or spotlights that highlight career paths in construction
- Supporting training, mentorship, or workforce development efforts
- Participating in local or national WIC Week events and programming
Participation can be formal or informal, what matters most is acknowledging the value women bring to the industry every day.
